Handcrafted wood household tools from artisan maker iris hantverk in Sweden, purchased and brought back from a buying trip in April 2025.
Round bread brush in oiled birch and horse hair. The shape and the long brush makes it easily to access all angles in the sponge cake pan, but works just as well for cooking or brushing the buns with whipped eggs.
iris hantverk is a small company. The core of the business is the brush binding manufacturing at Sandsborgsvägen, Enskede – here 6 visually impaired craftsmen from different cultures make brushes according to an old Swedish tradition. They also work with visually impaired craftsmen in Estonia. Both have a history strongly connected to the visual impairments movement.
Their vision is to revive the traditional brush binding profession. By making functional products with good design combined with the quality of natural materials and the craftsmen's solid technique.
