This recipe was a happy mistake. Originally, I set out using cocoa nibs. I liked the look, but wanted more chocolate flavor, and boy did the cocoa powder deliver! This reminds me of a tootsie roll, but with nuts!
And this is LOADED with nuts...Freddy Guys hazelnuts from Oregon to be specific. Not too sweet and a little bit salty. I can't stop snacking on it! We are not skimping on the chocolate either! We use Michel Cluizel 24% Dutch processed cocoa powder which gives a really rich, deep, clean chocolate flavor.
